Dr. Seneviratne received his medical education at the University of Colombo in Sri Lanka. Later, he immigrated to the United States where he carried out his Residency and Fellowship training programs in Medical Oncology and Hematology at The University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA. In addition, Dr. Seneviratne was a Research Fellow in Molecular Biology and Genetic Engineering at the University of San Francisco Medical Center in San Francisco, CA. He served as a faculty member at the University of Southern California before transitioning to Los Angeles Cancer Network (LACN) in 2003.
Currently, Dr. Seneviratne is the Chief Medical Officer at Los Angeles Cancer Network and the Chief Scientific Officer of the Research Division of LACN. Dr. Seneviratne has also served as the Chair of the Cancer Program and the Chief of Medicine at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles, CA.
Dr. Seneviratne oversees numerous clinical trials as the principal investigator, with a specialized focus on breast cancer. Widely recognized in the field of hematology and oncology, Dr. Seneviratne is well-published in many peer-reviewed journals such as The Journal of Clinical Oncology, Blood (The Journal of the American Society of Hematology), The Lancet Oncology, The New England Journal of Medicine, and The Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. He sits on several scientific committees and presents his research in conferences worldwide. Notably, Dr. Seneviratne’s presentations include the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) Breast Conference in Berlin, Germany, in May 2023, the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting, and the American Society of Hematology (ASH) Meeting, alongside numerous other presentations at various esteemed clinical forums.
Earning widespread recognition from his peers, Dr. Seneviratne has been voted as one of the Top Doctors in Los Angeles, CA for five consecutive years (2020 – 2024), as well as receiving accolades as one of Pasadena’s Top Doctors and selected as a Super Doctor by the Los Angeles Times.
